Weight 2011 - week 52 - End of the story

Well, that's it then. Weight 2011 is finished..

Last week was a bit hard with christmas. Discovered that christmas candy still is hard. Too little excercise and a bit too much food and candy mean 79,4 this week. 0,6 up from last week. Not good, but no crisis.

Some summary of the year:
Started at 129,6 kg
Ended at 79,4
Total loss 50,2 kg

Waist started at 137 cm, now at 94 cm. Loss of 41 cm in waist..

Pant size jeans from a tight 44 to a comfortable 33.

Can now walk and run and do what i want. Before always tired.

Sleep a lot better.

People seem to be more open and listen better to my opinion. Before people seemed to assume i was lazy....

All in all i am very happy to change. will try and not fal back into old habbits.

What now for 2012? Well, the big challenge now starts with stabilising and not going up. Think it will become "stable weight 2012".

Jennifer in her schools christmas show.

Last wednesday, Jennifer had a Christmas show as part of the last day of school for this semester. She is part of the choir. To our surprise and amazement she did a lot of singing during the show. Very proud I can tell you.


Weight 2011 - week 51

The year is almost gone. Next week is the end of weight 2011. Wonder what the total will be.

Eating real food totally now. Skipping carbs though, bo potatoes, pasta, bread or rice. No sugar also. Actually not that hard with little planning.

Weight now is a bit different day to day. Still going down, but slower now, despite eating very well.

Training has been a bit slow. Hurt my feet a few days ago and am taking it a bit slow. Better in the coming week.

Result then well, ended up on 78,8 this week, but have lso seen 78,1 during the week.. 78,8 means 50,8 kg total loss.

And for the people that haven't met me for a while, a picture. so that you not like my mother walk past me without recognizing me ;))

Weight 2011 - week 50

Morning, a new saturday and a new result.

Started eating one real meal a day this week. Nice to be on real food again.

Weight went down quite well. 78,5 yesterday morning. Then yesterday i was tempted to eat christmas lunch. No carbs though, still, it might have been a bit much as the scale said more this morning.

Result, 79,6 kg. That,s 0,2 down from last week. Total 50 kg

Weight 2011 - week 49

Morning

New week, new chanses.

Had an interesting, but hard week. Seem to be freezing more and more hungry. Must be all the christmas food you see now...

Anyhow, only managed to train on wednesday due to planning conflicts.

Weight was strange this week. Actually went up beginning of the week after last weeks good result. Maybe because i caught a cold ?

Result was then a loss of 0,6 kg. Still good... Brings me to 79,8 this morning. Total 49,8 kg lost.

That means i can start eating real food again. Only 1 portion per day for the first week. Will keep low on carbs though, so no bread, potatoes or pasta..

Weight 2011 - week 47 - 82,5 kg

And it's saturday again. A week has gone by again...

Had a work conference which only had me training 2 times this week. Food is boring but ok, still on replacement food. Hopefully only 2 weeks left, maybe 3...

Anyway, the scale said 82,5 this morning. Thats 0,9 from last eeek. To be expected after last weeks loss. 47,1 total from 1st of jan.

Measurements are getting ok aswell. 96 cm stomach now which is close to the 94 cm recommendation. Soon in the green there.

Only thing is that i am getting a bit wrinkly around my middle. Hopefully will go away with some continued training.

Tried to bake worstenbroodjes

Today, had to stay home with Elin who was sick and got bored. Found a recipe for worstenbroodjes. A dutch speciality. Sausage roll is the closest i can explain it to.




Anyway, spent the afternoondoing these. Unfortunately they came out the oven a bit hard (too much flour, too little yeast?), but i'm quite chuffed anyway.

Of course, the ni e thing is that i am not allowed to eat them....

Weight 2011 - week 46 - 83,4 kg

And a new saturday morning. Winter is still not here and we have cold, rainy grey weather. Sun is coming through now, so today will be a nice day ?

Had a good week. Morning training at 7 works well. 3 times this week.

The result then: an amazing 2,3 kg gets me to 83,4. Total 46,2 kg now. Hopefully 2 to 3 weeks left to real food... (christmas is saved ?)

Weight 2011 - week 45 - 85,7 kg

And it's saturday again. Amazing how time flies lately.

Seems to be a foggy day today in svärtinge. Planning to go shop some new jeans today. My old ones (36 still) now hang from my belt.... Amazing as i only got into them not that long ago.

Tried a size 44 jeans this week to compare... Way too big! And then to think i had almost grown out of those...

A good training week, 3 mornings. Also good on food (still on lowcal diet). Hope i can get to 80 kg and finish that the next 4 weeks. Getting a bit boring now.

Started to read a bit on low carb diets (lchf and gi). Interesting and think i might try avoiding sugar, bread, potatoes etc a bit more in the future. Can recommend the book matrevolutionen that explains a lot.

Anyway, the result for this week is 85,9 kg. 1,5 kg since last saturday and a total of 43,9 kg now.

Another nice thing is now that i measure less than a meter over my stomach. Started at 137 cm. Thats 38 cm in loss...

Weight 2011 - week 44 - 87,2 kg

Well another week has flown by. Training has gone well. Food aswell though is getting boring...

Anyway, no running today as jenny works until 14.30. Slow weekend as it looks.

The scale was abit slow this morning. 87,2 this week. That's 1,2 from last week. Ok, but not great. Total 42,4 kg total now. Hopefully back to normal food in 4 to 5 weeks...

Weight 2011 - week 43 - 88,4 kg

New week, new results.

Had a good week. Am off the soups and shakes now and allowed to eat mealbarrs and hotmeals now. Still on 800 kcal/dy though.

Trainingwise, managed 2 times and a weekend run.

Scale said 88,4 this morning. That's a good result and i'm quite happy. If i can keep this up i'll be ready in 5 weeks. Maybe for my birthday?

Total loss is now 41,2 from 1 st of january. That's almost half of me now....

Weight 2011 - Week 42

Another saturday. Autumn is really here now. Leaves are falling and we have had the first nightfrost. Planning to change to wintertyres already as snow could be coming any week now.

So, another week of very low calorie diet has gone by. Actually quite ok this week. I'm getting really tired of only eating soups and shakes. Really longing for something to chew on.

Coming week wednesday i'll move over to a low calorie diet. 800 kcal per day instead of 600. Then i can eat bars and lcd meals. Finally something to chew.

Trainingwise i managed better this week. 2 times at the gym and ran last saturday. Will be the same this coming week.

Result for this week is not as good as i hoped. Think my body hit a flat. Happened before that i get to a level where my weight is stuck a while. Anthow, the scale said 90,3 this morning. Total loss is then 39,3 kg total, only 1 kg this week. 10,3 to go...

Wednesday group follow up at itrim. Curious to see how the others are doing.

Weight 2011 - week 41

Well, second week of itrim done. Has been very challenging with a customer visit in the Netherlands. Let's just say i am not the most social person in the world at the moment.

foodwise i have kept to the diet. Soups and shakes all the way. Have bought some new tastes, and they are actually really nice. Especially the coffee ahake!

Training has been a problem due to travel and time. Pnly enough steps on friday, no pulstraining. Managed to run this morning though.

Results then. According to my acale i weighed 91,3 this morning. That's 2,6 from last week and total of 38,3. Only 11 3 to go to 80 kg..

Will continue this way for a bit more than a week. Then up to 9 weeks of bars and low calori meals.

Itrim week 2, day 9

Another quick update to write some experience off me.

Came back from my customer visit in holland last night. Actually went better than i expected.

Took with me 12 portions of food for 3 days. With a bit of luck and effort i managed to prepare them about on time. Once even on an airplane...

Trainingwise not that good. Due to hours and hotel stay haven't managed ny steps and no training so far. With a funeral today the first chance to do something is tomorrow or saturday. Next week will be better with morning training.

Met leo and rina at the hotel monday night. Really nice to sit and chat. Their food looked lovely..... ; (. Ah well, only 11 weeks to go.

Scale said 92,2 this morning, so that is quite amazing. Probably a good result for the week again.

Itrim week 1, day 5

Well, another quick update. I know i write a bit often now, but it helps in motivation.

4 days done of the first 21. Really longing for solid food now, but not hungry. I feel low on energy constantly though. Only 17 days left before i can eat bars and itrim meals.

Food i can eat is ok. Choclate shake is the worst and i have to start forcing it in now. Porridge with apple and cinamon is ok. Tomato soup is actually quite good.

A big challenge is coming tomorrow. Will travel to holland for 3 days for a customer visit. Will take with me shakes and soup but will have to manage both preparing them and keeping to the diet. Will be nice when it's over..

Scale said 93,1 this morning. That's only 1,2 over my lowest weight in 2006. Soon i'll have to go back 10 years to find my old weight.

Wonder how this will continue. 3,5 kg in week 40 and already 0,8 for week 41. Might have to stop early at this speed.

Weight 2011 - Week 40

Well, the first few days with my new start using itrim have gone.

Foodwise this has been good. Eating a very low calory diet for 3 weeks now. This means only soup and diet shakes 4 times per day. Only 600 kcal which is about 25% of what a man needs.

So far so good though, even with a conference at work it went ok. Not hungry, but a bit bloated in my stomach and a bit low on energy.

Trainingwise i managed 2 gym passes in the morning before work. On the conference we did pilates, running and football. During the running i had a proper dip, no energy and had to stop. Was feeling quite ill after that for a few hours. Guess i hace to take it a bit carefull with trainung while low on calories.

The result then for this week. Well, it seems to work as the scale said 93,9 this morning. That is 3,5 kg from last saturday!

Total loss 35,7 kg in total. With new goal of around 80 (83 with clothes on) 13,9 kg left

Will report result again in a week, maybe some update under the week.

Itrim week 1 day 1

Well, first day of my 12 weeks done.

Not too bad today. Have not been that hungry.

Managed a training pass this morning and a lunchwalk. A bit over 7000 steps today.

Scale says 96 kg just now. Very promising.

Conference tomorrow and friday. Next report saturday.

Weight 2011 - start of phase 2

Was at itrim today for my health check. Everything ok!

We decided i am going to try and lose 15 kg in the next 12 weeks. That means i will be eating a very low calory diet from tomorrow. No real food....

Besides that, we agreed:
- 2 gym training passes of 30 minutes per week
- 1 run per week
- 7000 steps average/day
- no evening/night eating
- eat 4 times/day, every 4 hours

Feel quite motivated now. Hey, it's only twelve weeks.

Weigt 2011 - week 39

A quick message as it is elins birthday today.

Back to 97,4 this week. Food has not been that good due to some stress at work and little time. Still can't manage that.

Was at itrim this week twice for training. Quite hard actually to do a pulse training in 30 minutes. Also ran 48 minutes last sunday.

Had my first group meeting. Interesting to see other people with the same problems.

Coming week i have a chat with my health consultant. Wonder what we will agree to do and where i am on my journey. Hope that will get me going better on food again.

Weight 2011 - Week 38

Hi,

Just a quick message as i soon have to go for my first training at itrim and a condition test.

Scale said 97,1 this morning. Last 2 days have not been very good with food due to travel. Also managed no runs this week (yet). Tomorrow i have the first chance.

Will see how things go from here. According to itrim i maybe should weigh 83 kg as target instead of 75 due to muscle mass. Don't know what to think of that yet.

Weight 2011 - week 37 and back up

Another week has flown by and the autumn is coming. It is starting to get dark earlier and earlier.

Harder to do training outside. Only managed 2 runs this week.

Food has been a problem this week again. Situation with sick family members and a teenager leads me to stress. What does that result in, yes, too much food. :((

Anyway, result is unfortunately 97,5 again. Up 1,1 from last week....

So, the last 3 months i hardly lost any weight. Sure, training has gone well, but food remains a problem.

Time to take the bull by the horns. Tomorrow i am going to ring itrim, a weightloss company. They seem to get people to lose quickly and do a lot of coaching. Let's see how that goes.

Weight 2011 - week 36

Did not manage to update the last few weeks as it has been busy with work and family. Phew, projects and teenagers, what a combination...

Have been a bit inconsistent with food lately. A lot of good days, but i keep falling down regularly. I try not to make too big a thing about that, but it slows the weightloss down unfortunately. I will just have to try and only have good days.

Trainingwise it has been hard to find time for running. The last 2 weeks i only managed a few runs. Condition is still getting better and today i ran 44 minutes. With warmup and cooldown that was 8 km in an hour.

The result then for this morning: 96,4 kg. I finally started losing again. First time under 97. Total loss 33,2 kg. 21,4 kg to target.

Well, let's try to have more good days and find time for running.

Weight 2011 - week 31

Hi all,

Once again a late update. With all things happening around jennys mother, who now is really very badly ill, i haven't managed to update and focus on losing weight too much.

I managed to limit the damage and sttay around the same weight. Scale said 98,9 this morning.

I have found the time for running 3x this week though. Now training for 8 km. Now running 36 minutes per training. (almost 6 km)

So the trick is to limit and watch what i eat. That is the hard thing with the irregular times and meals at the moment. Ah well, let's hop on the horse again and ride it!

Weight 2011 - week 29 - restart after the holidays

Well, my plan to be strict during the holidays backfired. It was ok the first weeks and at idre fjäll. The last 2 weeks at home were a disaster though due to various reasons. Let's just say that food is still stress relief for me. That risk is still there....

The week before this week motivation was quite bad. No food in the house was safe and running did not happen. Think i managed to go up almost 3 kg in that week.... :(( like an alcoholic, i still cannot trust myself and will have to watch that.

The last week went a bit better though. I lost about half of what i gained and did my running. Managed to run 5 km and 35 minutes straight non stop. That means "couch to 5 k" is finished. I will now start to train for 8 km nonstop running.

The scale said 100,2 this morning. Total loss 29,4 and 25,2 to go.

Well, up on the horse again and hopefully a good rest of the summer and autumn.

Idre fjäll day 3

A very wet day today.

Went rafting in norway with jennifer today. Jenny and elin joined in the car.

Got instructions, wetsuit, lifevest and helmet at the river. Then we started with 6 in a boat on a lake. Once the lake ended and the river began things became very exciting. So much fun! Jenny and elin took some pictures.

Idre fjäll day 2

Another busy day. Started this morning with a 5 km run. Did another track than yesterday to avoid hills. Failed, as this course was way worse! Managed 30 minutes straight running for the first time!

Then we spent the day at fulufjell and visited njuperkär, sweden highest waterfall.

Finished off with some swimming. Just back now, longing for a coffee and some rest.

For tomorrow we booked a rafting excursion in norway. Exciting...

Weight 2011 - week 25

Morning

After some stress and being sick, i'm back in the saddle...

The last 2 weeks have been a bit difficult. Still, it is too easy to fall in old habits. Managed to limit the damage though.

Had a pause in running as well. Fortunately managed to get going again and have run for 25 minutes straight both yesterday and today. Next week the 28 minutes runs start.

The scale said 98,5 this morning which is down 1,1kg from last time. Total 31,1 kg. 23,9 kg to go.

Next 4 weeks i have vacation. Planning to be strict with food and keep running. Hope i can book good progress.

Weight 2011 - Week 23

Ok, so no good news this week.

Can't really explain why, but a combination of stress ( a lot happening at the same time), hot weather (icecream...) and being a bit satisfied with the loss so far, meant i let my guard down a bit.

Apparently, even after almost a half year, i cannot afford to do that.

Result is unfortunately that i went up to 99,6 this week. Total is then 30 kg still. 25 to go.

So, new start this morning. I'm going to be super strict the coming weeks.

Now i have to go and find some motivation to run 25 minutes.

Weight 2011 - Week 22

Saturday morning and weighin time.

A hard week with food. A lot of temptation and quite a few mistakes. Will have to watch that a bit more again.

Running compensated a bit though. This is getting tougher now and i ran a nonstop 20 minute run yesterday. Goes quite quickly to train up condition a bit, but today everything hurts. Guess that's agood thing.

The result then: 0,5 kg loss only. 99,4 kg and a total loss of 30,2 kg. 24,8 kg to go to target.

Managed a 20 minute run

Sorry to shout this out, but can't keep this for myself.

Sitting here now very happy and amazed (not to mention sweaty). For the first time in over 10 years i managed a 20 minute Run non-stop!

I wasn't sure i would manage that today as it's only 5 weeks ago i started running again. Good progress, up to the 25 and then 30 minutes the coming weeks.

Weight 2011 - week 21 - made it below 100 kg !

Morning,

Saturday again. After jumping over my weigh in due to travel last week i checked this morning. Actually, i did weigh in, but on a different scale that gave about 94 kg. Not really usable.

Gained a bit of weight in holland, even though i did not eat that much and did run. Was less strict though compared to back home. When i got back, the scale said 102 kg.

During the last few days it went down again. This morning i finally hit it: 99,9 kg !!! Finally under 100 kg again. Really happy as i did not think that was going to happen ever again. Now i will hopefully never go over again!

The happyness of this is overshadowed though by the fact that today is the funeral of my younger cousin, who died of cancer last week at the too young age of 32. Unbelievable that this has happened and so quickly. Life seems to be a fragile gift that needs to be appreciated every day.

Now it's up to 90 kg which will be lower that what i managed in 2006 (91,3 was lowpoint then).

Total loss now 29,7 kg. 25,3 to go to target.

Have to eat breakfast now and then go for a run. Talk to you later. Have a good weekend//Geert

Weight 2011 - Week 19

Morning.

Saturday again and time to weigh in.

A good week training and foodwise. Running continued and i notice i can run longer. Made it upto 200 situps this week. Pushups i had to restart as i did them wrong earlier. Will get there though!

On the scales this morning it was as usual. First a really low weight on the first weighing. Then it jumped up 200 grams suddenly. I get really annoyed as you first get happy, and then a bit disappointed.

Anyway, result for the week is 100,5 . That means i lost 1,3 from last week, and a total of 29,1 now. Getting really close to 100 now and this hopefully, probably is the last week with 3 digits.

That is quite a big thing for me. Never thought i was going to be below 100 again. To be honest, not even when i started in january i could really imagine that. Now it is only a few days away!!

Another amazing thing is that i seem to have lost 6 cm (!) from my stomach this week. Strange idea that more than 26 cm have disappeared there.

Coming week thursday we go to holland. Really looking forward to that, but will be a challenge with food. Will be running my old round in Etten-leur on friday and monday !!

Bike lesson 3 - out on the open road

A lot of fun this time. Got to ride the new bike the school has bought. An yamaha xj6n. I think i liked this one better than the suzuki bandit i had before. A little lower and lighter it feels.

Out on the motorway and country roads today. Nice to feel the agility and power. Interesting to use countersteer to turn more. Also a bit of an eye opener on how quickly riding a bike can become dangerous. Too quick into a corner can be enough.

Think it went well as the teacher said this was ok and we can move on in the education. Means i really only have the high and lowspeed track excercises left. He even said that these should not be a problem. Does that mean that maybe only 2 lessons are left? One can hope,

Next lesson 1st of june. High speed course. Also booked risk sessions to the 7th. Risk one is a group discussion on risks and bikes in traffic. Risk 2 are track excercises during 5 (!) houra. A full day !

What a day..

Hi.

Just got out of the shower after a very intensive day.. Phew, totally exhausted and very happy that it is finally over..

Started with work this morning, Lunchwalk in Linköping at 12. Then finished work around 14.30 to go to the driving shool.

Spent 1,5 hours driving in city trafic today in the heath with hot motorcycle clothes on. Hot and sweaty was only the beginning of it. Actually started worndering if this was any fun at all. Teacher seemed to be pleased and we can move on from town driving to the countryside.

Later at home, after dinner, I put on my running shoes and made it out to the Electric light track here. Looks as if they have a competion coming up there as there were all kinds of tents there. Managed to do my run and ran 5 intervals of 1,5 minutes with 2 minute walks in between. The first ones were difficult, but the last ones felt as if i could run longer than the 1,5 minutes. Progress ?

So back home it was the second time that I came in hot and sweaty and had to change clothes. Think our washing machine will have to work overtime this summer if these kinds of days become common.

Tomorrow is a bit slower, a normal worksday with some training in the evening. Wednesday is a running day again.

Couch to 5 k, week 1 run 3 done

Just back from the third round this week. Kept losing one of my headphones. Annoying.

Felt hard this time, especially around the middle. Became a bit easier on the way home. Think i ran/walked around 3,2 km again.

Week 2 next week. Then it's 5 times 1,5 minutes run and 2 minutes walk in between. Wonder how that will go.

Weight 2011 - Week 18

Good saturday morning

Well, another week has flown by in my "new" life. Had another ok week. A big challenge this week was a 2 day conference about project management. Luckily it was a healthy conference with some training and no alcohol. Got the chance to try some pilates (ball) exercises, some yoga (i like !) and even some american football. Learnt a bit about myself aswell, which is also a good thing.

A milestone this week was that i finally started running. This far only twice (due to the conference), but will be out again today. The coming 9 weeks, i should be able to train up to a 5 km run.

Trainingwise i am coming to the end of the fist schedules. Under next week i'll have to do the final 100 pushups test and 200 situps test. That is going to hurt i think.

Expected my weight to go quicker this week with all activities. However the weightgods decided on the same level as last week. That means a loss of 0,8 kg again and a total of 27,8. Still 1,8 kg to go too 100 kg which i really want to clear before visiting holland in 2 weeks. If only i could make 0,9 coming 2 weeks... And.. Finally over halfway. 27,2 to go !

People seem to notice quite a bit now. I am in the "explain a lot" phase now where if someone asks or comments, i go on and on about weight loss. Can imagine that is quite tiring, but hey, i need to talk about it for inspiration/motivation.. Can only ask for patience. Anyhow, people seem a bit shocked when i mention what i lost and how much is left. Maybe i hid my weight quite well ? Another thing is that now people start noticing that i am quite a small guy...

Coming week is a busy one again. Have to catch up at work, 2 mc lessons and a talk at the bank (redoing our loans in order to build a garage). Besides that 3 runs and 3 times strenght training. Going to be a challenge to combine family-logistics, work and training..

Week 1 day 2 run. Done!

Hi,

Just got back from my second run. Another 8 intervals of 1 minute and 90 secs walk in between. One round of svärtinges electric light track and from/to the house. About 3,2 km.

Felt a bit harder than last time, but seemed to go quicker.

A guy walking on the track must have found me annoying. Everytime i ran i passed him, but during walking he passed me every time...

Now catching my breath and then a quick shower. Tomorrow/friday project leader school in stockholm.

C25k week 1, day 1

Did it!

Running shoes -check
Training clothes - check
Podrunner intervals podcast loaded - check

So, finally started couch to 5k. In 9 weeks i should go from start to be able to run 5 km in 30 minutes.

Today went well. A bit cold (actually saw snow in the forest !) ran 8 times 1 minute with 90 second walks in between. With 5 minutes warmup and 3 minutes cooldown. Quite hard actually when as much out of shape as i am. Hey, you have to start somewhere...

Ended up running/walking 3,2 km.



Feeling happy now that the start is here. Body is aching quite nicely. Next run on wednesday,

A wellplanned day that turned out different.

What a day. Took today of after my mothers visit (and to maybe see her in the morning) to be able to go to the hospital with elin and do a bike lesson. A tightly planned out day.

What happened instead?

Well, the doctor we had this morning was sick.... New time next week....

Then my driving lesson was cancelled as the teacher is sick...

So i went home for a run instead. Great to have a day planned to get things done and the result: nothing..

Hope that this will not be the theme of the week.

Weight 2011 - week 17

It's saturday again. Time to hit the scales (seriously, one of these days i'm going to hit or kick the bloody thing ;). )

Had it a bit tough this week. Trainingwise it's hard to keep a schedule with holidays and family visits. Foodwise easter and its candy have made life hard. It's gone ok, not great, but ok.

The result then: 0,8 kg and a total of exactly 27 kg. 28 kg left to go to target. Closer again to 2 digits, hope i make that before visiting holland in 3 weeks.

Now this weekend i have to find some runningshoes and clothes. Have none at all at the moment (has been years ago that i had training clothes .....). I'll start my couch to 5 km program this week. Wonder how that will go???

Weight 2011 - week 16

Morning.

Another week has flown by and time to weigh in again.

The weightgods have not been that kind this week. Seems things are slowing down lately. Have i hit a plateau? Feels a bit like the harder i train, the less i go down. And even in training i seem to get weaker, instead of stronger. Strange, but will have to just continue and work my way through !! Hopefully it will improve for next week.

The result then, 0,5 kg this week. Total 26,2 kg another 28,8 to go to target. Have passed 20% weightloss (total) this week...

Coming week it is time to get some running shoes and clothes. Beginning of may is my (re)introduction to running. I'm more and more motivated to get going.

have a great easter. Wonder how to avoid the eastereggs, but will give it a good try.

Weight 2011 - week 15

Morning.

Time for the weekly update. Had a good, but tough week. The weight decided to go up first, and very, very slowly down.

Training was tough. In the fourth week now and it's getting hard. Wonder if i will manage the coming week.

Results then: 1,1 kg and a total of 25,7 kg. Will not manage 100 kg before may as it looks now.

Motorcycle driving lesson 1

Hi all,

Finally the day arrived today for my first lesson. I have been to the driving school earlier to confirm that they have clothes that fit (was a bit afraid that I would not fit in as I'm still quite a big guy). No problem however.

So today I got there and put on the loaner clothes. and then met Bengke, my driving instructor.
He asked if I wanted to ride the normal bike, a Suzuki Bandit, or a custom bike. I chose the Bandit as it has ABS and is more like the bike I want to ride.

After a short explanation he asked whether I wanted to try. I drove a couple of rounds at the driving school parking and then we set of into trafic. Well, I can tell you that there suddenly was a lot to do. All the things you take for granted when you drive a car suddenly feel strange and you find yourself forgetting obvious things again (like switching off turnsignals...)

Got to a parking where it was time to practice slow balance excercises. This actually went quite well and apparently I seem to have a good balance to start with. Quite proud of that as this was the thing i was fearing most.

Beyond that we drove around in some quiet areas and did a hillstart. Then back to the industrial area for some braking tests. That was a bit scary, but with a bike with ABS not a problem. Unfortunately, it was then time to head back to the driving school and my first lesson was over..

Thinking back it was one of the most fun things I did in a long time. It actually was not as hard as i expected, especially the slow balance excercises. I suspect that I just need to get a bit more used to the bike and things have to become more normal and structured. My goal of finishing this in the summer quite possible.

Next lesson is the 2nd of May. Then we probably head out into the towncenter. Don't think that will be too bad as I haven't felt that trafic is too much of a problem. Looking forward, only 18 days to go..

Weight 2011 - week 14

Morning.

Well, that just happened, my first week under target....

I think that my body after last week decided to go into saving mode. Hope it will start burning soon. Ah well, even smaller losses count.

Results then, 0,6 kg and a total of 24,6 kg. That also means a
Bmi of under 35. No longer strongly obese, but only 'normal' obese. At 90,5 (bmi 30) i will only be overweight......

Only 30,4 kg to go.......

Continued training this week. 3 sessions, up to 120 pushups and 180 situps.

Weight 2011 - week 13

Morning,

Saturday morning again. Another time to hit the scales.

A good week for weight 2011. A lot of lunchwalks (5) and continued training. Up to 121 situps and 79 pushups i got this week. Sure, with pauses, but the target is 200 and 100 without a break respectively.. 4 weeks to go ! Unfortunately, i start noticing that my back hurts a little, and maybe have to be carefull with that.

The weight gods have been kind to me this week. Weight was down by 1,9 kg. Means a total of 24 kg now and 31 kg to go to target. In a few weeks i'll pas 100 kg. Maybe before the start of may?

Was at the driving school this week to try out clothes for my bike license. I fit in their clothes (sure, xxl pants and xxxl jacket). Great feeling to finally start being able to do normal things. Sure, the clothes are big and i look like a sausage, but i fit in and can do something i could not do before. Gradually, as i lose more it will become even better! First lesson, 14th of april :))

Weight 2011- Week 12

Good morning,

Another week has flown by and now it is time to hit the scales again. This week has been quite good foodwise (one customer visit and a thai lunch though :/ ) which means the result should be ok. Last weekend, after weighing in my weight went up a little, so it was in the beginning of the week hard as i didn't think it would be a good result.

Anyway. it turned out ok with -1,4 kg. That means that the total loss now is up to - 22,1 kg.

Slowly but surely the halfway point is coming into sight. Also, and more important, I'm getting closer to a 2 digit weight.. That is a big step and will probably reach that in lite more than a month from now. My mother is visiting after easter, so I'm hoping i'll reach it by then. Will probably end up a little over still then.

Started working out this week. To my amazement i discovered muscles in places i didn't expect them, as it hurt in a lot of places.. But that's a good sign, right ? Will continue that for the coming weeks. After the 100 kg mark, I'll slowly start running again. Goal for this year is to be able to do 100 pushups, 200 situps and run 10 km... Tough from where I am now, but a goal is a good thing.

Weight 2011 -week 11

Saturday morning again. Here are the results of the swedish vote...

No falldowns this week. Even trying to start some training (muscleache now :)) ). Weightloss this week is not that great. Oh well, it will catch up and all loss, even small counts.

Result for the week, - 1,1 kg. Total -20,7 now. 34,3 kg to go to target..

Coming week i start with exercises a few times per week. Actually looking forward to that. Planns for the coming weeks are also to slowly start running again. Looking at c25k, couch to 5 km program.

Well, will report again next week. Hopefully my body decides we can lose some more.

Weight 2011 - week 10

Morning.

What a strange and difficult week it has been. Almost no weight loss untill thursday, and i thought it would be a bad week.

Then thursday and friday my weight suddenly dropped, ending with a good result anyway!

Score for this week: 1,6 kg (again) and a total of 19,6. Still 35,4 kg to go to target. Over a third on the way.

Traffic rules - left turn att a crossroad

Hi all

Reading theory to try and get my motorbike license this year. Just noticed something interesting.

Here in sweden at a crossroads with stopsigns, the traffic that arrives first, drives first! That explains why i always thought these situations were strange here. In holland, the traffic that turns to the right goes first (shortest corner) Weird that there is such a difference in such an important rule... Amazing..

Another week gone, and a new result. Loss is going well and is not that hard to keep up. Why haven't i done this before???

Anyway.. The result for this week is 1,6 kg. That gives a total of 18 kg now. 37 kg to target.

Weight 2011 - week 8

It's saturday morning again. Time for me to check my weight again.

Still on schedule with food and my walks. Hoping that the snow will disappear so i can try and start moving a bit more. On the other hand, might be good to do that slowly.

Anyway, the score for this week: 1,6 kg to a total of 16,4. A good result. Now there are 38,6 left to go. Very happy with that.

Measured centimeters also. From the start i seem to have lost about 9 cm in diameter overall (breast, stomach, hips). Can tell you that you notice that with clothes. What almost didn't fit 2 months ago is now getting too big. Means that i soon will start going down in sizes. : )

So, up to hopefully another good week and maybe 18 kg total ?

Weight 2011 - week 7

Quickly the results for this week. Was a strange week, lost 1,7 kgs to tuesday. On wednesday morning all of that was gone and i was back at 0. Why ? I don't know, maybe because i caught a cold ??

Anyhow, results for this week: 1,1 kg and a total of 14,8. Slowest week this far... 40,2 kg to go.

Up to week 8 and over 15 kg!

Weight 2011 - week 6

Good saturday morning all!

Weight 2011 has gone really well this week. No problems keeping away from the fridge. 3 lunchwalks when i was working from the office. Besides that we got snow again and that means extra training by cleaning the driveway.

After the last two weeks that i thought were stable, my body decided to behave different. Suddenly i lost weight quicker this week. Seems it goes down a bit, slows down a couple of days and then goes quicker again. Like there are some plateaus it has to go through.

Diet wise i still do the same. Small breakfast in the morning, some Knackebröd with cheese, little bowl of yoghurt. Mealbar for lunch. In the evening a normal cooked meal, watch the sauce and portions though. Nothing in between ( sometimes a fruit). I normally get somewhere around 1200 kcal on that. That's quite low for a man, but i seem not to get hungry on that and have no energy problems.

Anyway, result for this week is an amazing 2,4 kg ! That means my total is now 13,7 and there is 41,3 left. I passed a milestone this week and made it over 10% weight loss. Next milestone is 25% of my total weight to go down, which should be easy next week. (13,8 so only 100 grams :) )

Weight 2011 - Week 4

Hi,

Another week has gone by. Time to weigh in again.

Has been a hard week. With a lot of things happening in the family it has sometimes been hard to keep up motivation. Found myself at home with Elin a couple of days, and found myself in front of cupboards and the fridge a couple of times.. Fortunately, managed to not open them.... Elin has been ill the last nights, and that means going up when she calls. Hard to go past the kitchen on the way back then....

Anyhow.. I'm still on track. The results are slowing down a bit as I suspect my body is getting used to the lower intake.

Results for this week: -1,3 kg which means a total of 10 kg ! (yahoo !). 45 kg to go to target.

When I consider that the original plan was to go down 1 kg a week, it actually is going extermely well. That means that after 4 weeks, I'm 6 kg before schedule.. Hope it keeps up going this way.

Funnily enough food and our new menu still is an inspiration. Had a really nice gullasch-soup this week that Jenny made. Yesterday I made a pie myself that also was very nice. It is easier to say no to food and eat smaller portions if the food you do get is good !

Trainingwise not a good week. Only had my lunchwalk due to circumstances once this week. Am actually starting to feel that I want to start walking and then maybe running again. Hope the weather will allow more of that soon and that I somehow get the time to do that.

By the way, thanks for all the nice reactions. Really good motivation !

I started noticing this week that something is happening. Clothes I could't use anymore now start fitting again. Very happy with that.

2,4 kg. Total 8,7 kg.

Means only 46,3 kg to target......

Weight 2011 - result week2

Another saturday, time to check the scales and see what the result for the second week is.

Foodwise it has been a good week. We continued with the weekly menu which makes it easier to eat less. Had some hard moments though, waking up hungry in the night, the smell of kebab in the office at lunch.. Managed to steer clear of temptations (except one little meatball from the fridge....)

Started walking again. Managed to do 2 45-minute walks this week during lunch. Not much, but a beginning.

So, the result:
2,1 kg this week
6,3 kg total

Quite happy with that. As i think much more than one kg per week is not reasonable on the long run i'd better not start expecting much more, which is tempting now. Too high expectations reduce motivation if not realised!

Weight 2011 -result week 1

This morning a week has gone since weight 2011 started. Time to hit the scales and see the result:

4,2 kg !

So, that means 50,8 to go to the target.

Now i think this for a part is due to my stomach etc emptying which also reduces weight. Next week will probably be quite a bit lower.

Good news (?j is that jenny started complaining about the smell of my breath. Means that i probably started burning fat (gives bad breath). The trick now is not to get in too many calories, but not get hungry.

Coming week is the first working week under weight 2011. Will have to be careful with lunch then. Hopefully i find the time to do some lunch walks.

Weight 2011 - menu week 1

In our family we often have the problem that we don't know what to eat. Often this leads to a trip to the store to buy something or in worst case ready food being brought home. As a part of weight 2011 we are trying something different.

We started using a week menu with recipes and make sure all ingredients are at home. Then it is just a case of doing the recipes. This week has had some nice food:
- Homemade meatballs with brown sauce and potatoes
- potato and artichoke soup with mushrooms and parsley dip. not so nice, but we used the wrong kind or artichoke
- shrimp pasta with dill
- ginger marinated chicken with lime yoghurt
- roast tenderloin with garlic cottage cheese and olive sallad

Funny thing is that due to the recipes and measured portions i seem to eat less and have an easier time not overeating. Funny, trying to lose weight by thinking more about food.

Anyway, we continue next week. Tomorrow is the end of the first week for weight 2011. I had a good week and did only eat my meals, nothing exta (except one "bulle" during "fika"). Have good hopes for my weight tomorrow!

Weight 2011 - week 1

My new years resolution for this year is (again) to lose weight. I have tried maybe a hundred times the last few years, but always seem to fall back......

Time to try something new. For motivation (and a bit of group pressure) i'm going to write weekly reports and observations on my progress. Hope this will keep me on track !

Anyway. Today is day 1, week 1. Score is 0 kg, 55 kg to go........ Will probably take up to a year to complete...

First step is to watch the calories and start with some lunch walks again. then slowly but surely start moving more.

Biggest challenge for me are evenings and nights. If only i could sleep a full night without waking up hungry....

Update in a week. Hope that will be good news...
